Fall Festival 2009!

NBCC Youth Program

New Beginnings continued our tradition this year with two special events in October. First, we invited Darin Gurganus to speak (see separate article) about the decption of Halloween and then we also provided an alternative for the young people (and young at heart!) in our community.

The date was Saturay, October 31 starting at 6 PM. The evening started with Gary Merkle (our newest member of NBCC) who did a special for us through song and music. Aubry opened with prayer and we enjoyed a great potluck dinner with everyone.

Regina Davis

The evening continued with many games and events. Regina Davis, Family Ministries Director, headed up the Cake Walk which was a big hit. 12 cakes were made and donated to the winners.

We also had a visit by "Nightmare" the horse! The name was given because of its black color but it was definately far from a "nightmare" as it was truly a gentle horse. The kids took turns riding it and had an awesome time. Nikki and Wayne Furches handled that event and we are truly thankful.

We also enjoyed a great HAYRIDE! Many went on an old fashioned hayride that started at the church and went around several of the community fields. Alan Williamson coordinated the hay, tractor and trailer for the event. He even talked Brad Fanning into driving the tractor! He told Brad either HE could drive or Alan could drive and Brad tell him the directions! :) If you know Alan, you understand. lol Brad graciously drove.

NBCC Kids

Little Ben turned one!

THe kids had an opportunity to also take turns at a pinata but Pastor Ray did not bring a hammer this year. Brad was so thankful! :) THey also were able to play some basketball and hang out.

The last event of the night was a special game where Gary and Aubry divided up the people in two teams. They had to do various crazy things in order for the privlege to get a point and let the next team member go. It was such a blast! Tthe teams had to run around the picnic tables, stick their hands in a 'goopy' mixture (kind of looked like ground up liver - but was actually wet gravy train!) to find a colored coin. When they found the right one, they had to run and pop a baloon looking for the same color of coin. The funny part was that some of the balloons were filled with shaving cream!!! SO... you know what that looked like (see the pictures below). Once they found their coin, then they had to take a basketball shot until they made it, then run back and tag the next person. The team with the most points at the end won. I am not sure if it was the red team or the blue team - not because I have a bad memory, but because I was laughing too hard!!!

Thanks To Everyone

We had a great time and we thank everyone for their participation and fellowship! We are all looking forward to see what will be in store for next year!
