The Joseph Project - "Helping Hands"Bulletins
There is an intriguing story of Joseph and his family from the bible, that is told in the book of Genesis. You may recall that Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers and went from "the pit" on into the 'prison" after Potipher's wife accused him of sexually attacking her. What a bummer! It seemed as if Joseph's life was destined for failure... Here he had went from a good family life on to slavery and now he was in prison! Could it get any worse? Sometimes we may feel like that too, but God ALWAYS has a plan for our lives and the struggles that Joseph faced only prepared him for where God was taking him. The story goes on and we find that Pharoah had a disturbing dream that no one could interpret. However, a former dungeon mate (the King's chief Cup Bearer) remembered that Joseph could interpret dreams through the Lord. So, Joseph was sent for and he immediately interpreted the dream of Pharoah. There would be 7 years of great abundance followed by 7 years of famine. Joseph went on with the interpretation saying that Pharoah needed to appoint a discerning wise man and put him in charge of the land of Egypt to gather up food during the times of plenty so that it could be wisely distributed during the hard times ahead. Upon hearing this, Pharoah decided to choose Joseph and he became second in command and was put in charge of everything - from the palace to the people, with the only one above him being the Pharoah himself! What a great story of victory and triumph during difficult times. That in itself is so encouraging, that God can bring us from the pit to victory through His divine plan - step-by-step. You can read the full story of the life of Joseph in Genesis Chapters 37-45. Joseph was a wise manager of the food distribution program of those days! The Joseph Project is all about giving a "Helping Hand" to those going through difficult times - times of personal famine - and providing other helpful resources that may be available. In other words, offering a "Helping Hand" so that we can get through hard times and find our place in the Lord! Mission Statement Our mission is to provide a helping hand to our church body and the surrounding community. The "helping hands" ministry is here to assist those in immediate need of food. We are also here to help empower those in need with the use of the word of God. Our goal is to offer a once-a-month food assistance program, to those in need and to help them gain ongoing assistance, if necessary, from other food ministry outreaches in our immediate area. In the future, helping hands ministry will also help provide names and addresses of other outreach programs that are available for long term assistance. These include ministries such as Angel Food Ministries that provides low cost food packages and additional resources. "Helping Hands" first priority is to offer assistance to our church body and secondly, to reach out to the surrounding community in Montague and Currie with food and the love of Christ Jesus. The Joseph Project - Helping Hands" Ministry is here to not just provide people with "fish" (or provisions), but we are here to help with the tools necessary to allow people to learn to "fish themselves", gaining victory and independance in their life situations. Philippians 4:19 - And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Should you be in need, please contact Steve or Chelle at New Beginnings Community Church. Our ministry consists of food items that are replenished by donations only. Any food distribution is always based on availability per distribution guidelines set by the church leadership team in conjunction with the Joseph Project Coordinators and an application process which must be completed. Food shipments are sporadic and made available to the church body and to the general public though postings in the Currie and Montague Community. If you would like to make a food or financial donation, please contact us through the JOIN US tab form page above to your right. May God bless you!
